May the 4th Be With You – Bookish Edition

Hey guys!

Happy may the 4th! This is probably my favourite day of the whole year, since I’m a big fan. To celebrate Star Wars day, today’s post is all about some of the books dedicated to the greatest franchise of all time.

  • William Shakespeare’s Star Wars Series by Ian Doescher

I’ve been drooling over these books since forever. The author does a retelling of the stories of each movie, in the style of William Shakespeare. The most used adjective to describe this books is “genius” and it honestly looks like it. I bet they are just hilarious. They also contain pretty Elizabethan illustrations, plus plus! There’s currently five titles out: Verily, A New Hope; The Empire Striketh Back; The Jedi Doth Return; The Phantom of Menace and The Clone Army Attacketh. The last one, Tragedy of the Sith’s Revenge will be out in December (2015).

  • The Star Wars Trilogy by various authors

(Unfortunately, Book Depository doesn’t sell this book but you can acquire it in the Barnes & Nobles website)

This beautiful edition takes part of the Barnes & Noble Leatherbound Editions. It contains the three first Star Wars novels which are: Star Wars: A New Hope by George Lucas, The Empire Strikes Back by Donald F. Glut and Return of the Jedi by James Kahn. I need it badly, not because the cover and backcover are gorgeous but because it would be interesting to read Star Wars in prose.

  • Jeffrey Brown’s Star Wars

I’ve been a fan of Jeffrey Brown for a while. Clumsy was one of the first graphic novels to really hit me in the heart. These books are composed by a series of illustrations portraying the life of Darth Vader and his sons, if he was a good father! I’ve had the pleasure to go through this titles in the bookshop and they are absolutely funny and heart warming.  There’s many more available like: Darth Vader and Friends, Goodnight Darth Vader and Star Wars: Jedi Academy #1 and #2.

Star Wars is really one of my favourite things in the whole universe, and I had such a fun time putting this post together. I’ll probably do the same for another franchises, if you guys would like that! Anyway, happy Star Wars Day and may the force be with you all!

  1. Happy Star Wars day:D! Those Shakespeare covers look awesome, totally just fan girled over them. Awesome post missy, you really did a cool job with this one and bringing up some of the more unusual stuff.

  2. Eu nunca li a história toda, mas o meu namorado é um fanático e já leu, já me contou partes. E os filmes realmente é uma agulha no palheiro. Eu gosto imenso da história do Star Wars 🙂
